TV SHOW REVIEW: JOAN OF ARCADIA 84%
Well let me start by saying that I personally do not really like the title. Havign said that I actually learned to appreciate the show. It is a very novel concept. Every week God gives Joan a new task. Most of which are obtrusive or uncomfortable. At the end of every task Joan normally learns a very valuable lesson. I really like the idea, acting and plot. A great show to watch!
BOOK REVIEW: KEEPER OF THE ISIS LIGHT 80%
A sci-fi that focuses its moral directly on human acceptance and belonging. A girl lives on "Isis" (a planet) and is given the job of giving information about the planet and also give aid to passing spaceships. When a group of new settlers land she finds her world turned upside down. The book was interesting and had a good moral but I felt that there was a lot of unnecessay material. The story could have been summed up well in less pages. I suggest this as a read to any sci-fi fans.
CD REVIEW: BARENAKED LADIES: EVERYTHING TO EVERYONE %84
I like the CD in many ways. They are a funny band with tons of great talent. Their newest album was awesome. The hit song "Another Postcard" lived up to its reputation. The other songs were also of great value with unexpected hits like "Testing 1,2,3" It is a perfect CD to listen to in the car with a "sing-a-long" quality. If you like the band then this is a great buy. Otherwise maybe stay clear.
February:
TV SHOW REVIEW THE APPRENTICE 93%
Donald Trump stars as himself in this edgy new reality show. 16 contestants are selected to compete for a spot as a CEO to one of his companies. The people are split into two teams and given a new task every week. The tasks involve marketing skills of all varieties. The show delivers surprisingly fresh material with a creative side. This show is living proof that the reality TV show industry has not lost all hope at producing innovative concepts.
BOOK REVIEW PENDRAGON: THE NEVER WAR 95%
I tend to enjoy history-based fiction and this book was no exception. The Pendragon series stars Bobby Pendragon as a teenager whom is entrusted with the responsibility of a "traveler". Travelers are the good guys that stop Saint Dane from destroying the universe. This part in the series depicts gangster life in the Bronx during the 1930s. The setting was great. The characters were great. The plot was great and the ending was great. The book is tough to describe. T shows aspects of fantasy, science fiction, history, adventure, action, drama and many other genres.
CD REVIEW OUTKAST: THE LOVE BELOW & SPEAKERBOXX 74%
Okay so I dont like rap. But even so this CD was not very good. Every song was different which some people really like. However I found that just when you would get of feel of what they were going for it shifted dramatically. Just the way Alice in Wonderland does. The CD left me confused at what they were aiming for and caused me to think. Does this rap group get to much play? I admit the rating is harsh and if you tend to really enjoy rap you can probably raise this review by 10%. Also the CD is a two-disc set that includes a free movie ticket worth about $10. Also the CD is not very pricey. Put all this together and you get a sweet deal. That is if you like Outkast.
